Located in the shadow of downtown Atlanta, Mechanicsville is bordered by Interstate 20 to the north, the I-75/85 Downtown Connector to the east and Pittsburgh to the southwest. Being one of the oldest neighborhoods in Atlanta, the name “Mechanicsville” was borne from the railway mechanics who lived in the neighborhood adjacent to multiple railway lines. Residential architecture is mixed to include original shotgun and two story homes from the early part of the 20th century to more contemporary lofts. Rosa Burney Park hosts one of several community gardens that offer an array of fresh fruits and vegetables for local residents. Due to its close proximity to major interstates, most of Atlanta can be reached from Mechanicsville within 10-20 minutes.
